Trying To Plan My Dream British Vacation

So, I know I tend to plan things a little too far ahead, but for me that’s sort of the fun of it all.  While I won’t be making it to England for at least a year or more, there’s nothing to stop me, at least in my own mind to planning the perfect British itinerary.  While I could just go with what some travel company has laid out, that’s sort of taking part of the fun out of it.  I like to research new places a little bit, and see what sounds interesting to me.  I will check travel excursions and itineraries of different travel companies, but that’s just a starting point for me.

I do like to start most vacations with something big and intriguing, and to me nothing says intriguing more than a bunch of big mysterious rocks known as Stonehenge.  The stories and lore surrounding these interesting stones is a great place to stop.  While I’m there, checking out some big honkin’ cathedrals is always fun, so the one in Salisbury is worth the trip.  I do like to set a slower pace on my journeys, so after these two big tourist attractions, I wouldn’t mind a nice drive through the countryside, before checking into my nightly accommodations and perhaps grabbing a bit of ale before turning in for the night.

It’s always great in my mind to include a bit of historic learning on my travels.  Nothing could quite beat a bit of history like a visit to the city of Cornish.  This is after all where the Mayflower set sail for the new world.  While there’s often much to say about where the Mayflower landed,  I think that visiting where it set off would be just as exciting.  I do love being around boats, so checking out the harbour and the Tamar River are sure to make my day.  St. Ives would be a great spot for a walking tour if your into architecture.  The houses here are beyond charming.  Don’t get too caught up in your sightseeing to forget about grabbing a bit of food and tea.  This is England after all.

What vacation would be complete without a little adventure, magic and romance thrown into the mix.  Glastonbury would be a great spot for this, as legend has it this is where King Arthur is buried.  Now, while your in the area, you may as well pop in to visit Cardiff, Bath and Wells.  Here you’ll find more great cathedrals, historic architecture and just for fun the Roman Baths.  How’s that for an electic mix of interesting sites for the day?
